Hoka One One is a brand of athletic shoes that was founded in 2009 by Nicolas Mermoud and Jean-Luc Diard in Annecy, France. The two men were former Salomon employees who wanted to create a shoe that would allow runners to move faster with less fatigue.  The name "Hoka One One" comes from the Maori phrase "hoka hey," which means "time to fly" or "let's fly."  While Hoka's signature designs, featuring bright colors and oversized soles, were originally developed to provide comfort and functionality, the brand has caught the unlikely attention of fashion enthusiasts and sneaker collectors in recent years.
