With ties to the Antwerp 6 (a radical group of Belgian designers that also includes Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten, Dries Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs, and Marina Yee) Ann Demeulemeester assisted the legendary Martin Margiela before launching her own label in 1985.  Ann D's work is unmistakably avant-garde and known for its bohemian, deconstructionist aesthetic.
